About
Four Girl Dexter Stud was serendipitously started in December of 2008 when Alison and Greg Cromwell decided to add cows to the mix of animals on their small farm near Byron Bay. They wanted cows that they could milk and that their young daughters could handle. After a few days of intense research the perfect breed and would be breeder were discovered. Greg who spends much of his time on google became reacquainted with the Dexter breed and after a few phone calls found a stud that had stock that they might sell.
Legendary Dexter breeders, Judith and Terry Hill, have helped us to achieve the best of both beef and dairy traits, and our herd represents some of the best Australian Dexter gene pool in the country.
We love our little cows! Every day we are among them, working with them, milking a few, and ensuring they are all going well. Our goal is to keep working hard to build our herd and knowledge to ensure that we breed and sell only the best animals to small landholders looking for a family cow, the young farmers looking for beef cow to raise and show, or other cattle producers who may be looking for specific dairy or beef traits that only the Dexter can provide.
Located in the Byron hinterland of New South Wales, Four Girl Stud’s goal is to be Northern New South Wales’s premier supplier of Australian Dexter cattle. Our herd now consists of 20 animals and we plan to sell semen from live and historical stock to national and international markets.
